How good is this recipe, yet so dangerous at the same time!! You now can literally have a chocolate cake in your hot hands in under 15mins (or less if you use the microwave!) 😋
I am chocolate obsessed (my 2 weakness are chocolate and cheeseboard platters). I am all about keeping trigger foods out of the house, because if there is chocolate in my kitchen, I will eat it. But this recipe…ALL of the ingredients are in my kitchen at ALL times! I am not sure how I am going to resist 🙈
If you don’t have protein powder just add an extra Tbsp of ground almonds.
I haven’t tried making this in the microwave, but I have read that you can. If you do want to try it, cook for 30 seconds, then check it. If it is still raw microwave for 10-15 sec intervals until cooked.
Don’t over cook this chocolate cake (like I did in the video). I forgot that the ramekin remains hot so it continued cooking after I took it out of the oven. I also baked it for about 15 mins which was WAY too long!
To make it extra special, you could mix through chopped dark chocolate, peanut butter or crushed walnuts - yum!
Chocolate Protein Mug Cake
2 Tbsp 100% cocoa powder or cacao powder
4 Tbsp ground almonds
1 Tbsp all natural protein powder (I used CleanPaleo)
Pinch of sea salt
1 Tbsp 100% maple syrup (or honey)
1 Tbsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees and grease a ramekin with coconut oil.
In a bowl mix together all of the ingredients and pour into the greased ramekin.
Bake for 10 minutes.
